In Sanliurfa, often simply called as Urfa, there is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the Muslims - the pond of Abraham with holy carps, which is called Balikli Göl in Turkish.
For hundreds of years, locals and pilgrims from other countries and regions believed in an old tale about the holyness of carps. The consumption of carps is already forbidden according to Islamic belief. This sacred site also includes several mosques like the Rizvaniye Mosque and the Halil -Ur Rahman Mosque, as well as the cave where Abraham was born.
